Join us at the ‘Oh Canada Carnival’, to celebrate Canada’s 150th on Saturday, September 9th from 4:30 pm until 11 pm. This fabulous, FREE event is open to everyone and will include a free performance for kids by the Kompany Theatre Group, free BBQ & Pizza, free carnival games, face painters, balloon artists, arts/crafts table, free outdoor Movie (‘Up‘ by Disney) and finish with a Fireworks show!
There will also be a costume contest with prizes! Dress up in your best ‘Old Time’ carnival clothes or an ‘Oh Canada Costume’ – whoever looks ‘most Canadian’, to be judged at 8 pm after singing of “O Canada” and before the movie starts.
Come Rain or Shine to the Brookview Community Centre (280 Bulyea Road).
IN THE EVENT OF RAIN OR WINDY WEATHER: Planned activities will continue to take place in and around Brookview Community Centre (280 Bulyea Road), except for the singing of “O Canada”, greetings from our MP Matt Jeneroux, and the movie ‘Up’ which will be moved indoors to the GH Luck School Gymnasium (300 Bulyea Road – the entrance to the Gymnasium is around the back northwest corner by the teacher parking lot). The fireworks will be re-scheduled to start at dusk (at 8:30 ish) and the activities in the Gymnasium will start FOLLOWING the fireworks (the fireworks can go off unless the weather is really poor).
Help Brookview celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday by volunteering for the event. Volunteers are still needed for distribution of flyers, food pick-up, helping with the BBQ, site monitor, arts/crafts table with kids, carnival games and set up/take down. Please email Tessa at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to help out!
